Wow what a day!

Yesterday morning I lost my keys to my office/car. Luckily I had already printed off the exam I was giving and had it in my work bag, so I was able to do classes as normal. Then our car wouldn't start (the battery had died). And Mark was home with the boys when it wouldn't start and he couldn't jump it trying to juggle kids. Then my students took longer taking the midterm exam I gave, so I had to call my dad to go watch the boys while I waited for people to finish taking the test. We went on about our day (luckily we have a second car and we live only 2 blocks from work). Then I was almost late to drop Ethan off at gymnastics after dinner, then I had to do grocery shopping and go to the pharmacy which made me almost late for picking him up. When I picked him up at gymnastics, he had a big bump on his head from bumping heads with another kid while doing tumbling. After dropping Ethan off at home and unloading the car (which is actually a truck since it is our 2nd car, which isn't very kid friendly), we had to jump our other car. Finally, everyone was settled at home and Mark gave the boys their bath/book time while I went to bible study with some friends which is every Monday night.

I was very much getting down about the long day we just had. I got to bible study and was glad to see my friends and we started chatting. We started the study with some prayer requests. One of my friends mentioned that a para-educator at her school was called out of class because the para's house had burned down! Then my friend Tyler mentioned how a older man had died an hour or so before at the fieldhouse on campus due to a possible heart attack.

My so called "bad day" turned from bad to "wow, I really should be grateful that we are blessed with two cars, we can buy groceries, we have a warm home for the boys, and we are in okay health". After bible study, I went home thinking how blessed we really are and how it didn't really change our day having all the stuff happen earlier. It turned out a very grateful day!

  1. Thanks for sharing that! It really put things in prospective for me, too.
