Leaving for Camp

Mark and I have been helping with VBS at our church every night this week. (we have some good pictures of it to share later) The last night is tonight and tomorrow we finish packing for camp, then we'll leave early Friday morning. I'm not sure how everything will fit in the car!

We'll be at my grandma's house with my family for the weekend doing some camp shopping and spending time with her (she lives about 20 miles from camp) and then camp starts Sunday. I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week and next week too!

Good News and Sad News!

Good News: We had our 18th-20th week ultrasound on Friday. It was reading that I'm 19 weeks so the doctor said probably sometime between December 18-25. As long as it is during Christmas break when Mark is home for several weeks, then I don't care. The doctor said everything looked good and healthy! GOOD NEWS!! We were very happy and starting to get more excited!

I also talked to him about getting my tubes tied while in the hospital after the baby is born. He said he wanted to do it the next day, but I was worried about recovery time and it being so close to Christmas and wanting to be with my family, so we decided I wouldn't get them tied and we're talking about Mark getting....you know...taken care.

Bad News: The flash on my camera broke (my Nikon that I bought back in the spring). We have a 2 year warranty so we're not out money, so that is good. But, I had to send it in to get it fixed (to NY where I bought it from) and it won't be shipped back for 4-6 weeks:( They said it might not take that long but that they always say 4-6 weeks in case it does:( I guess if that is my only bad news then we're doing okay. But going back to a normal camera when you've had a D90 is hard!

Okay, thought I'd catch people up on some things since I finally had 2 minutes to blog! Oh, and I didn't proof-read this...I said I only had 2 minutes, not 3:)

We didn't find out the gender of the baby (for those who wanted to know). We had the ultrasound lady write in down in an envelope and we'll open it with family sometime around our anniversary:)

After traveling around for the last 4 weeks and enjoying the summer, aka the pool, barbecues, day trips out of town, etc, I'm realizing that blogging will have to wait till next month for more daily updates. I just can't rationalize spending much time on the computer when I'd rather be outside with the boys or traveling around while we have the time during the summer (don't take it personally, I'm not even on facebook much during the summer, except maybe once a week:)

I'm done with traveling for grad school in 2 days. The weekend will be spent with family, outside, a trip to the tree farm, helping set up for VBS, and spending time with friends. VBS starts Sunday morning to Wed night, which will be fun not only for the boys but for Mark and I. He is the activity director and I am the craft person (thankfully we have lots of helpers). After VBS we'll be home for 1 day packing, then leave first thing in the morning for 10 days. We'll visit my grandma, vacationing with my brother/sister-in-law/niece, spend time in Branson, then head to camp for a week. At camp, Mark will help run devos, activities, etc. I'll help my sister-in-law with the crafts and take care of the boys. On our way back, we'll spend a few days vacationing afterward. Then 24 hours after we get back home, students start arriving on campus.....wow, where does the time go!

I've been such a bad blogger lately!

I'm home for the weekend, only one more week to go for grad class. Actually, I take my finals next Thursday, so less than a week! We aren't doing much this weekend, just the normal things.

The boys are growing up so much this summer. My youngest gave up on the binky and is drinking out of big cups now. My oldest is writing his letters and is starting to spell out words when we read books (with our help of course).

I struggled whether I should stop this blog or not since I don't post often anymore. I think I'll keep it up for now and see how the next few weeks go. Have a good weekend!

The Weekend Ahead

Another week of grad classes is almost done. I have a midterm this afternoon, and then I head back home. I don't think Mark will post pictures soon, so I'll try to see if we can get some up this weekend!

Mark took the boys to a "free babysitting" night at our church Tuesday night. He said they boys were hot and sweaty when he picked them up, which probably means they ran around the whole time. My parents called and said both boys took 4 hour afternoon naps the next day. I have a feeling that means they just ran and played all day, aren't grandparents the best!

We are having a family garage sale this weekend. Mark took tomorrow off so it should be fun to have the family all together and get rid of some random stuff.

I'm getting super excited for camp in a few weeks. I think we'll get out the tent for the boys this weekend. I'm looking forward to our next baby doctor appointment next Friday too. I don't have many questions but it is always fun to hear the heartbeat! I haven't scheduled my ultrasound yet. It may have to wait until after we get back from camp (we'll be gone 10 days total). I'll talk to my doctor and see what he thinks.

My oldest is so cute on the phone every night when we say goodnight. He is getting so old and tells me stories about what he did that day with granny/grandpa and his brother did. I very much believe in giving each child equal treatment, so I get on the phone with my youngest who just kind of says the same couple words over and over and laughs. I think it is good for both of them to know that they are both important equally and to start that at an early age. It is amazing how much kids pick up on, even when they are little.

We decided that we will find out the sex of the baby. But, it will be a little different. We are going to have the ultrasound tech write down on a piece of paper the gender, than seal it in an envelope. Then we'll open the envelope at a special occasion. The only thing we still need to decide is when to open it. We are considering our anniversary (which is mid August), or my birthday (also in August), or at our yearly Labor Day barbecue we have with the whole family (obviously beginning of Sept). There are lots of good options and we'll probably decide sometime when it gets closer to the ultrasound. I like the idea of having the whole family together and having everyones reaction at the same time.

Last week week by quicker than expected and Mark did a wonderful job with the boys while I was in classes. I've put him in charge of posting pictures during the week or on the weekend (at least until my classes are done).

The 4th of July was fun over the weekend. I got back in town late Thursday night and the boys stayed up to hang out with me. We spent Friday at my brother's house. Saturday lunch we were invited over to a friend's house for a barbecue. Saturday night we did fireworks with the family and my parents. I have some funny pictures from the weekend, so hopefully Mark will put those up this week. We had church this morning, and now I'm putting my stuff together for classes again tomorrow.

My oldest had a great time watching us do fireworks over the weekend. Hopefully everyone had a safe and happy 4th!
