Getting Back to It!

Well, I took about three weeks off of blogging. I can't say I missed it too much mostly because life has been pretty crazy here over the past several weeks. I have no idea how to update almost a month of activity at our house, so I'll just try to say the highlights.

Spring Break was AMAZING last month. We stayed first at the Broadmoor Resort & Spa in Colorado Springs and then spent a few nights at random hotels while we went all over Denver, Breckenridge, Winter park, and Estes park. Lots of hiking and spending time outdoors. It was truly beautiful the whole week. The whole trip was beautiful and the outdoors really does rejuvenate you.
It was also great to try out our new camera while there. If I ever move from Nebraska, I'd pick Colorado, or maybe Utah, or Harding....okay, I have no idea where I'd move and we probably never will, so Nebraska it is:)

The last week in March I went to my 1st work conference. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis. I got there on Wed, along with 4 other co-workers and 7 English majors we brought there, and then left Sat. afternoon. Below is our hotel (before we unpacked:) We took one night to go to MofA. Since I'd seen MofA about 134 times having lived in MN before, I took the light-rail tram back downtown and went to bed early (I know, I'm boring, but I was so tired and kinda sick) My parents took the tram back with me because they thought I'd get captured or something. Note: they live in the same small town I do and don't ride the city bus everyday...

The day after I got back the real craziness around here started. My husband had a lot to do for the high school days events here at the college we work at. He was in charge of ticket sales, etc, so it got insanely hectic for a couple days. But I love it! We are truely blessed to love where we work, even the busy times:)

At the end of that week, it was H.S. Days. We were gone every night for 4 days. Thanks to my parents for watching the boys each night! I don't thank them enough! Below is the group that won the club show, love them! Some friends came into town over the weekend also which made it even busier, we got to see a few of them and will see the other ones soon. Three days is not enough to do everything you need to and see everyone you need to!

My oldest is starting up gymnastics again next week. He took a few months off to do some other things. Since we are getting closer to summertime, we decided to start him up again. My husband has his last 2 weeks of intramurals. They are doing sand volleyball right now and luckily my oldest goes with him and watches the games. He gets so excited to "watch games", he says.

My youngest is talking up a storm. His favorite word is "Pa". He and my dad have a weird, special sort of connection. My youngest always wants to be with him and currently ignores my mom:( We're working on it. I think it stems from my dad babysitting every other day right after my youngest was born. My dad watched the boys for about an hour a day every other day for almost 6 months. I really do think he remembers that time and finds comfort in my dad. I know it sounds weird but he runs to my dad all the time and says "Pa" every other word. He can also say momma, granny, daddy, bath. He says bottle but it comes out bodda. He also says spoon but it comes out spawn. He's the cutest:)

We have only 3 weeks left of classes here! Can you believe it! Then finals week and graduation. It is weird how different our lives become when the students leave and classes are over. I'm home 24/7 (except for the short summer class I'm teaching) and Mark's office is less busy. Less busy meaning not student issues, just preparing and making changes for the new year.

We are getting ready to sell my husband's truck in the next few months. We kinda need it in June when we do grad school stuff, so we need two cars. But after that, we're looking to sell. I don't think we'll trade it in, just sell it or take it to the auction place in Omaha. We rarely drive it so it will be nice to not pay insurance for it.

As I mentioned a few months ago, our summer schedule is filling up fast. I think we have everything planned out now. My husband's conference was canceled at the beginning of June but then it filled up two days later with something else work related. I'm looking forward to "normal" summer life which to me is long walks with the boys and trips to the swimming pool. This summer I'll have my first garden. I'm starting a garden in my parents yard (about a 1/2 mile from us). As you already know, we live in campus housing for free...so our new garden will be a 1/2 mile from us. We start digging in about 2 1/2-3 weeks, then we'll surround it with posts and begin to plant. Just a few things at first, and then add on. Thankfully my parents have a really big backyard that is completely fenced in so I won't have to garden with neighbors watching.

Okay, I think I should wrap up! We have Easter lunch planned with my family tomorrow, along with an Easter egg hunt in their yard. Then we'll head to our friend's house in the afternoon for an egg hunt on their land. It's always nice to have friends with great land! I'm excited for worship on Sunday and remembering the importance of this day.

Our Nanny Thana brought the boys Easter eggs this afternoon. She said that her mom actually made them and wanted the boys to have them. I feel so very blessed to have her in our lives, she has such a loving, warm family.

Have a wonderful Easter!
